You can start by designing an online classified advertisement which catches the eyes of the buying audience. To help you get started, we've put together a few hints and suggestions to make your ad stand out with simple HTML techniques.
HTML (an acronym for Hyper Text Markup Language) is a simple computer language which instructs most graphical web browsers to display your ads. Using HTML in the body of your ad will allow you to make something bold, italic, or colorful. Take a look through our guide and if you have any questions, drop us a note at help@labx.com.
- AVOID WRITING IN ALL CAPS. The letters are all the same height and as a result the eye glances over them rather then reading them. It takes more effort to read descriptions written in ALL CAPS, this can alienate your potential buyers.

- Avoid long paragraphs that become hard to read. Put Space between paragraphs by surrounding the test with <p> </p> (paragraph).
- Avoid long sentences by using lists (useful when listing equipment specs). Break up each point with <br> (line break).

- Emphasize key words with bold or italic. With the <b> (bold) and <i> (italic) tags there are also closing tags with each, </b> and </i>. It is important that you remember to insert the closing tag after the word(s) you want to emphasize, otherwise the effect will continue throughout your ad.

- Emphasize with color and subtitles. The use of subtitles makes it easy to go from section to section, plus it makes sections such as Payment and Shipping Options more prominent. By emphasizing sections you make your point clear and direct. The use of color (to a certain degree) can enhance subtitles and point to limitations that effect the sale. By pointing out these limitations more clearly, the buyer becomes more aware of them and thus reducing the number of misunderstandings due to misread terms & conditions. To use color, surround the text you want to color with this tag <font color="colorname">wording</font> (see sample below for color names available).
- Note: When you want to do more than one effect on your text, there's a simple rule you must follow so that the effect works in the various browsers. "The last tag you open is the first tag you close". Take a look at the position of the </b>. The <b> was opened after the <font> tag so it must be closed first.

- Break up long lists with subtitles and enhance with bullets or numbers, this will make it easier for the buyer to find items of interest faster. There are two type of lists you can create: an ordered list <ol> giving you sequential numbers and an unordered list <ul> giving you bullets. Each list item starts with the <li> tag and ends with </li>. After you finish listing all your items you end the list with the appropriate end tag </ol> or </ul>.
