Union Process Produces Unique Laboratory Attritor for Biotech Application.

Union Process, Inc. has produced a first-ever 01-HD Laboratory Attritor with a water-cooled shaft.
For this application of dry reactive milling of organic compounds, Union Process modified its typical design to specifically meet the customer's requirements. Those requirements included a special water-cooled shaft and a very tight clearance of just 1-1/2 mm between the arms and the tank wall that necessitated increasing the length of the tungsten carbide-coated agitator arms. The customer's application also called for closing off the entire processing environment in order to allow grinding under inert gas in a closed system.
This Attritor has a gross tank capacity of 1400cc and a media volume of 760cc. The 01-HD Lab Attritor has been designed to allow easy removal of the grinding chamber from the mill. This allows the user to further work with the ground material under a hood.
The one HP, T.E.F.C. motor is controlled via a variable frequency controller installed in a NEMA enclosure. An LCD Operator Interface Module (OIM) displays agitator RPM, motor AMPS, and motor HP use.
