C-40 Continuous Attritor for a customer's large scale continuous production of zinc oxide and iron oxide.

Union Process, Inc., known globally as a manufacturer of size reduction and dispersing equipment as well as related services for a broad range of industrial applications, has produced a redesigned C-40 Continuous Attritor for a customer's large scale continuous production of zinc oxide and iron oxide.

This C-40 Attritor features a 125 HP, T.E.F.C., inverter-duty motor with a variable frequency controller. The LED was programmed to display motor RPM, percent load, amperage, and output voltage.

With a gross tank volume of 49 gallons and a media volume of 44 gallons, the C-40 has an approximate throughput of 3,000 to 3,500 kg/hr. The mill is constructed with a stainless steel agitator shaft with arms as well as stationary arms built into the side of the tank to interrupt mass or build up and improve wear. The stainless steel tank is jacketed for cooling and is equipped with a gear tilting assembly. The tilting assembly facilitates removal of the agitator shaft to allow for easy maintenance and cleaning.

The pump assembly is based on an air-operated diaphragm pump with stainless steel housing and Teflon diaphragms and balls. The Attritor is also equipped with a stainless steel inlet assembly with check valve. The media discharge valve is located at the bottom of the tank. The product discharge assembly is manufactured with a stainless steel discharge chamber and bar grids to retain the grinding media.

Continuous Attritors are ideal for continuous production and fast grinding of large quantities of material. They are designed to deliver a low-cost, maintenance-free operation. Common materials ground by C-series Attritors are paints, ceramics, chocolate and other food products, paper coatings, and metal oxides.
