Union Process Introduces Combination HSA-1/1-S Combination Attritor for Grinding Uranium Oxide

The HSA-1/1-S is unique because the single motor system allows the user to switch back and forth between the high-speed system (HSA-1), which uses 1-2mm grinding media and the conventional system (1-S), which uses 3-10mm sized grinding media.

Each system has its own unique tank and shaft which is interchangeable on the frame. Both also include a MECO shaft seal for dust control, gas inlet/outlets, and charging ports for grinding under inert gases in a closed system. The jacketed tanks have temperature probes to monitor the cooling water in and out. The two systems each feature gross tank volumes of approximately 1.5 gallons.

The variable frequency controller comes complete with an interface module to allow for data acquisition. The controller is installed in an IP-66 enclosure, and the LCD OIM (Operator Interface Module) is programmed to display agitator RPM, motor AMPs, and motor HP being used so that processing conditions may be closely monitored.
