Economical Water Purification SystemsMicroclear is offering excellent value on small, compact high performance water purification systems, for both reverse osmosis and deionization. For an entry price of only $385.00, you can generate ultra-filtered 18 megohm high purity laboratory water from house tap water within a few hours of hookup. The model DI-25 is made completely from ultraclean, zero-extractable food-grade components. It produces up to 25 gallons of deionized water per day, and is shown below. House tap water passes the 1 micron HDPE filter (left-most canister), then passes through the carbon-block filter (central canister) and contacts the thin-film-composite (TFC) reverse osmosis (RO) membrane (white housing on top of unit). The TFC membrane has a 500 dalton cut-off rating. House tap pressure forces about 30% of the incoming feed-water through the TFC membrane to produce sparkling clear, ultra-filtered water, with a significant improvement in water purity, all without any moving parts!Passing through this three-element filter train (particulate, carbon and reverse osmosis) effectively reduces about 98% of dissolved solids. This prepurified product water is then passed through a mixed-bed ion-exchange resin cartridge (right-most canister) to remove trace ions that escaped the TFC membrane. Because it is a trickle flow system, very effective deionization is accomplished with only one mixed-bed cartridge. Up to 2000 liters of product water can be made from a single cartridge change. (Actual performance of daily output rate and total volume per cartridge set will depend on your tap water content (salt level, etc.), feed temperature and house tap pressure.) A Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) meter is supplied with the system to monitor performance, at no extra cost. These systems are in hundreds of labs world-wide and are used for general water purification, HPLC, molecular biology and tissue culture applications, all with outstanding results.
