New Food Pharma Systems Qmill Jet Mill Series - The "Clean" Alternative to Mechanical Milling.
When final particle size is required between 15-20µm and 100µm (D50), starting from a raw material with particle size of 2-3mm approx.
F.P.S. l has recently developed a new jet mill series, designed as the alternative to mechanical milling for cosmetic, chemical and pharmaceutical powders when the final particle size is required between 15-20µm and 100µm (D50), starting from a raw material with particle size of 2-3mm approx.
This jetmill named QMill, due to the characteristic shape of the milling chamber, represents a complementary technology to the spiral jet mills, for example for a pre-milling phase before micronisation.
Qmills are completely interchangeable with F.P.S. spiral jet mil.
Moreover the Q-Mill jetmill series can be considered as the “clean” alternative to mechanical milling.
Typical Q-Mill advantages over mechanical mills are:
- No mechanical part in movement, no mechanical attrition
- No temperature increase (very important for thermo sensitive products)
- Light weighted, easy and rapid assembly/disassembly
- Built in AISI316L and mirror polished at Ra<0.25micron
- Built as per cGMPs and supplied with validation protocols (upon request)
- Easy cleaning operations
Qmills can work both with Air or Nitrogen just as the spiral jet mills at pressure between 2 and 12 barg. The milling process combines a double collision effect: particle to particle and particle to target.
Qmills are available with dosing feeder, gas/solid separation cyclone, control panel.
Qmills are available in different sizes:
- R&D, starting from 0.2g
- Pilot Plants
- Production Plants
Numerous options and isolator, cryogenic or ATEX rated configurations are also available.

(*) Productivity data depends on many different variables, such as initial and final PSD, crystalline structure, humidity, tendency to cake, static charges, etc. The productivity indicated is an average level applied to pharmaceuticals powders. For food, cosmetic, chemical, mineral powders the productivity is normally higher. The best way to define productivity is to perform micronisation trial at our Test Centre. |
