More Info About the SemiProbe M-12 Probe System For Life
SemiProbe has released a new M-12 configuration for the modular Probe System for Life™ (PS4L) platform. The two stage wafer drive system allows users to rapidly move across large wafers, lock down the coarse stage and then makes fine micrometer adjustments to position the device to be tested. Precision Z and theta mechanisms allow even large pin count probe cards to be used effortlessly. Mostafa Daoudi, VP of Engineering, indicates “the new design allows unique 300 mm capabilities as well as economical field upgrades to 450 mm, manual or semiautomatic, when the industry moves to the new size wafers. No other manual 300 mm system in the world has this field upgrade capability”. In another pioneering option, SemiProbe offers a wafer map system for manual probers. Using this system, optical encoders on the stage communicate with a SemiProbe PILOT software wafer map to indicate the current die position the stage is in for testing. This allows engineers to locate specific devices on large scale wafers quickly. Built in response to the industries never ending drive to lower the cost of test and streamline the time to data, this option significantly improves the functionality of the system. In addition, engineers can record test results to the wafer map for export data to other systems downstream.
SemiProbe provides manual and semiautomatic probe systems for a variety of test applications including electrical and non-electrical characterization of devices using unique simulation and measurement capabilities. The flexibility of the PS4L platform allows users to modify their system as their test structures and test procedures change. The ability to provide custom configurations with new capabilities within a few weeks and at reasonable cost separates Semiprobe from traditional companies that require custom designs and the associated NRE. The patented PS4L system continues to gain widespread acceptance in meeting the flexibility requirements of research and development while bridging the gap to production test.
Modularity requirements, time to market pressures and limited research funding has all contributed to making the PS4L the ideal probing platform. The same system can be perpetually field upgraded as needs and budgets change.
