Ruptures cell tissue by explosive decompression, breaks up cells and tissues into a uniformly homogenized suspension, extremely useful for fractionating or homogenizing mammalian tissues and cells, for obtaining extracts from living cells, and for treating fragile bacterial cells, can treat samples from a few milliliters to 500mL, 15.2MPa (2200psi) maximum working pressure.
