Vernitron

        Vernitron Corporation, the precursor of Axsys Technologies, Inc., was launched in New York in 1959 by Bernard Levine, who served as its chairman and president. After working for Bendix Aviation, one of many aerospace contractors in the area, Levine formed Vernitron with a couple of fellow alumni from Cooper Union, the arts and science college where he had earned his electrical engineering degree.
