Kjeldahl Apparatus

The Kjeldahl method, developed in 1883, is still used today as one of the standard methods of determining nitrogen concentration in organic and inorganic samples. The determination of Kjeldahl nitrogen is made in foods and drinks, meat, feeds, cereals and forages for the calculation of the protein content.  The method is also used for the nitrogen determination in wastewaters, soils and other samples.
