Nikon Eclipse E400

The Nikon Eclipse E400 was designed for stability and compactness, aiming for comfortable, long-term usage. The E400's frame also reduces vibrations. It is suited for a range of clinical applications, being popular in routine biological applications and MOHS/pathology. The magnification capability of the optical system ranges between 10x and 1500x for observation purposes and from 2x to 500x for 35-millimeter photomicrography. The Eclipse E400 is succeeded by the Eclipse Ni-U and Eclipse Ci Series upright microscopes.

The microscope features a five-piece revolving nosepiece and Nikon's CFI60 optical system. It is customizable, allowing users to change the stand, head, and objectives and add a camera. This system includes a series of universal objectives that allow various observation techniques, such as brightfield, darkfield, phase contrast, and more—all without needing to change objectives. The optics are also infinity-corrected, allowing numerous types of intermediate tubes and accessories to be inserted into the parallel light optical path without image degradation.
