Spectronic 20 / Spectronic 20D Spectrophotometer
Spectronic 20 / Spectronic 20D
The Spectronic 20 is one of the most commonly used spectrophotometers in the lab. Originally manufactured by Bausch and Lomb in 1954, it was later purchased by Milton Roy, and is now owned by Thermo Scientific who produces a new version which is for sale today. The price for purchasing a used Spec 20 spectrophotometer can range greatly; with very old Bausch and Lomb Spectronic 20’s selling for $30-$50 to as high as $200 depending on the condition. Newer Milton Roy or Thermo Spectronic 20+ spectrophotometers will fetch better dollars and can range from a few hundred dollars to the low $2000 range.
The Spectronic 20 and Spectronic 20D are single-beam spectrophotometers. Durable and easy to use, the 20 series is ideal for a student laboratory as well as simple QC and water analysis laboratories.
