The Thermo IEC Centra CL2 is a general-purpose benchtop centrifuge. It is designed for low-speed applications and ensures safe, convenient operation with consistent results. The centrifuge supports numerous swing-bucket and fixed-angle rotors and adapters. It can achieve speeds up to 4,770 x g. The IEC Centra CL2 has a small footprint of only 27 cm x 34 cm, making it suitable for labs with limited space. Despite its compact size, it has a high capacity and can spin up to 28 x 5/7 mL (13 mm) blood tubes and 8 x 50 mL conical tubes. The centrifuge is lightweight and easy to transport, making it suitable for fieldwork.

The centrifuge's simple, microprocessor-based controls allow for easy time and speed adjustments and ensure consistent, accurate results. The IEC Centra CL2's At-Start timer starts the timer once the rotor reaches its maximum speed, allowing for consistent results from run to run. The IEC Centra CL2 also supports Aerocarrier™ adapters for biocontainment. These adapters can be cleaned with common disinfectants and autoclaved without corrosion.
