The US-based characterization community is very excited about the newest conference on analytical science, instruments, and equipment. analytica is launching its trade fair for laboratory technology, analysis, and biotechnology, and analytical conference for the first time in the United States on Sept. 10-12, 2025, in Columbus, OH.
The analytica trade fair will feature exhibition areas, forums, special shows, and conferences that deliver the latest trends and innovations from the world of analysis. This well-established trade fair is known to attendees in Europe, China, Vietnam, India, and South Africa. analytica is excited to grow by reaching out directly to the scientists and organizations in the US. To learn more, we spoke with Susanne Groedl, global industry lead and exhibition director of analytica USA.
Susanne Groedl studied politics with a minor in
economics and law at Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, graduating with a
Master of Arts. She worked as an event manager for one of the largest daily
newspapers in Germany, the Süddeutsche Zeitung, before joining Messe
München in 1999 as a junior exhibition manager. In 2005, Groedl was appointed
exhibition director for analytica Munich, analytica China, and analytica Anacon
India. Since 2024, as global industry lead, she has overseen the strategic
direction of all analytica trade fairs worldwide. Groedl is married with two
daughters, and besides spending time with her family, she enjoys outdoor sports
activities.
Q: Who do you expect to attend analytica in the US?
A: analytica USA is designed to cater to professionals engaged in scientific research and experimentation within a laboratory setting in industrial, scientific, and research sectors. Additionally, we place particular emphasis on laboratory decision-makers, chief executive officers, and central purchasers from major industrial sectors.
The solutions described at our laboratory show are intended for a wide range of visitors, including those from the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology/life sciences, food industry, materials processing industry, electronics, cosmetics, university research institute sectors, and further industries that need lab equipment.
Q: Why should lab users attend?
A: The analytica show concept is a unique and innovative idea that has the potential to establish new standards in the US. The trade fair concept is composed of three parts: a scientific conference, an industry exhibition, and a practice-oriented supporting program.
In addition, analytica embodies the comprehensive value chain of the laboratory industry, including laboratory planning and equipment, consumables, and high-quality analytical instruments.
Q: Tell me more about the function and value of the three pillars.
A: The unique analytica concept has been a success story for more than 20 years. This concept is the world’s leading network for the laboratory market. Additionally to Germany, it is used in China, India, Vietnam, and South Africa and is tailored to the respective markets. In each of these countries, analytica has become the leading trade fair in the region, as it reflects the current needs of the laboratory users and decision makers.
The US trade fair concept is divided into three parts: A scientific conference, the classic exhibition in an exhibition hall, and a practice-oriented supporting program, which also takes place in the exhibition hall.
Our program is very practice-oriented. Laboratory users will find the latest solutions and equipment for their daily work at the trade fair. Laboratory decision-makers can focus on future developments and trends in the laboratory of the future, such as how to make their laboratory more sustainable.
Q: Who will be exhibiting at the event, and how many participants do you expect?
A: Our exhibitors are primarily manufacturers of laboratory technology and analysis equipment, representing the full range of laboratory products. Currently, we have 230 exhibitors registered, and we expect a total of 250 or more. Most market leaders have already committed to analytica USA, including Analytik Jena, Bruker, Cytiva, Hamilton, JEOL, Mettler Toledo, PerkinElmer, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Waters, and Xylem, among others. International market leaders will also be present in specific stands. Seventeen German manufacturers will provide their latest equipment and services at the joint German stand, “Made in Germany.” Exhibitors from China and the UK joint stands also showcase their latest devices and services.
Q: Are there any other activities that attendees should note when considering attending Analytica?
A: Yes, there are a few unmissable special shows that will occur during the trade fair.
Q: What is the difference between the scientific conference and the practice-oriented supporting program?
A: The conference is driven by invited scientists and researchers engaged in the development of innovative methodologies in the domain of instrumental analysis.
The supporting program is characterized by its practical nature and is designed for analysts and laboratory managers who are interested in acquiring knowledge about cutting-edge subjects.
Q: What opportunity does analytica see in the US? What gap are you trying to fill, and why did you choose Columbus, Ohio?
A: The internationally successful trade fair concept is now ready to share its passion and expertise with a new audience. We’re striving to become a friendly meeting spot for manufacturers and lab users, fostering connections between these two groups. We complement this with an interesting supporting program to make this trade fair a unique, innovative, and business-oriented meeting place for all participants every two years.
We deliberately chose Ohio because it offers some interesting and new market opportunities. Ohio is home to the rubber industry, the food industry, interesting research facilities such as the Battelle Institute, and a large collection of companies from the biotech sector, which are represented by Ohio Life Sciences. Columbus is easy to reach by plane for interested visitors from the USA, the journey from the airport to the exhibition center takes a maximum of 10 minutes, and the price structure for overnight stays is also available at reasonable prices.
We’ve heard about the success of analytica in other countries and are very excited to experience it all in Ohio this fall. The ever-growing complexity of science, materials, and biotechnology has put growing pressure on the characterization community, so it will be a great opportunity to learn from experts across this diverse scientific community.
